Now, A 'Math Facebook' Called 'Teaching Tomorrow'!
This news was grabbed by 'Amit Shrivastava' on 3/2/2012

Chennai-based online mathematics education platform HeyMath is working on launching a new social networking site 'Math Facebook' called as 'Teaching Tomorrow' within three months. HeyMath, which has former IMF chief economist Raghuram Rajan and entrepreneur Jerry Rao on its advisory board, is on course to unveil the social networking site for mathematics. Symbolically, it is happening in 2012 - the National Mathematics Year in India. "I am visualising 3,000 teachers coming together (from key Hey-Math markets such as the US, Singapore and India)," says MD Nirmala Sankaran. "There is a case for bringing this community together. They would face similar problems as teachers." ET reports that 'Teaching Tomorrow' social network will be a separate non-profit venture. It is intended for teachers to share maths insights with each other. [VIA ET]  Click here to read the full story

This idea is a stolen idea as it has already been done by Wooplah.com. I joined wooplah 3 months ago. I think it is funny how a website that has not even been released is claiming the title of Math Facebook when Wooplah.com is already that. Furthermore Wooplah just released their site and this company seems to be taking their idea and all of their hardwork from them. I cant stand companies like this that take ideas from hardworking people and pawn it off as their own. Wooplah.com is the real First Math Social Network. Check them out. If I was the owner of Wooplah I would sue them for trying to steal my idea.

Wooplah - an all-inclusive-one-stop-deal for finding your next tutor or tutoring jobTeaching Tomorrow - vision is to help teachers be at the cutting edge of teaching for the 21st century learner. Completely different ideas not to mention commercial aims for different groups of people. Even if they were the same idea this is not a bad thing - what if only Apple was allowed to build tablets because they thought of them first

@another anonymous...No if you investigate Wooplah a little further you will see that they too are in the business of reaching teachers to allow for a fluid learning enviornment between the classroom and the students. They are a tutoring social network by name but they offer so much more than that in features. This feature mentioned is just one of them. Competition is always a plus but there is a fine line between healthy competition and taking someone elses idea. Going off your example if apple created the Ipod tablet and one of their competitors took the exact working s of the tablet put it in their own and put a different name on it would that be right No the idea is to come up with something different than your competitors with different features so that you make yourself marketable competiton. Take for instance burger king and Mcdonalds-both have a signature burger but they are completely different in the composition and way they are made and delivered to the customers. For instance Big Mac has special sauce and three buns and uses shredded lettuce as well as grilled burgers. BK uses charbroiled burgers whole leafs of lettuce two buns and no special sauce. So yes you are right in saying competion is healthy as long as it is distinctively an original idea or a new spin on an old one. The point--dont try to redistribute the big mac with a different name it has already been done.
